Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To provide a method of separating miscellaneous matters contained in waste water, which comprises the steps of forming coagglomeration flocks of miscellaneous matters and magnetic powder by admixing magnetic powder, applied with agglomerating agent on its surface, into waste water, and then separating the miscellaneous matters instantaneously by way of magnetic attraction, whereby it is enabled to remarkably reduce the floor space and installation costs for manufacturing the above system. CONSTITUTION: Fine particles of magnetic material such as Fe 3 O 4 and Fe, coated with agglomerating agent over their surface, are admixed in wasst water and agitated therein, whereby agglomerating agent is dissolved in water and co-agglomeration flocks of miscellaneous matters and magnetic powder or fine particles are formed. Then, flock containing waste water is brought into contact with permanent magnet plate or electromagnetic plate means, whereby the co-agglomeration flocks are attracted instantaneously to the magnet plate and thus waste water can be purified effectively.
