Improved polymerization of ethylene
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain polyethylene having a wide molecular weight distribution and suitable for blow and extrusion, by polymerizing ethylene, using a catalyst consisting of a radio component, abtained by neacting a specific solid with a titanium (IV) halide, and an organoaluminum compound. CONSTITUTION: Ethylene is polymerized by using a catalhst consisting of a solid component (A) and an organoaluminum compound (B). The solid component (A) is obtained as follows: (a) A reaction product between a hydropolysiloxane of formula I: (R' is organic group, e.g. alkyl, anyl, alkoxy group, etc.; m is 0,1, or 2; n is 1, 2, or 3; m+n≤3) and an organomagnesium compound is reacted with hydrotalcite in an aromatic hydrocarbon containing 1W1,000 millimoles per gram of the hydrotalcite of ethers, e.g. diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran, etc. at about 0W150°C for 0.5W20 hr to form a solid component (b). The solid component (b) is then reacted with a titanium halide, e.g. Ticl 4 , etc COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
