Thiosemicarbazone derivative

Abstract

Abstract NEW MATERIAL:A thiosemicarbazone derivative of formula I: (R 1 is H or lower alkyl group; R 2 is H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, or cycloalkyl group; R 3 is H or OH; the C-C bond at the 3- and 4- positions of the carbostyril skeleton is single or cloukle bond). EXAMPLE: 8-Hydroxy-5-formylcarbostyril-thiosemicarbazone. USE: Anticarcinogens and antivirial agents. PROCESS: A carbonylcarbostyril derivative of formula II is reacted with a thiosemicarbazide of formula III in a solvent, e.g. dioxane or THF, at 0W200°C, preferably 50W150° for 1W12 hr, to give the objective compound of formula I.
