Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To perform electroplating of alumina in high efficiency, stability and uniformity, by removing the alumina deposited to auxiliary electrodes by applying a reverse potential between the auxiliary electrodes and an aluminum electrode after removing the alumina-plated article from the electroplating bath. CONSTITUTION: For example, double helical heaters of cathode ray tube are put into the holes of a rack bored at regular intervals, clipped with a clip 3, mounted to a stand 4 of an electroplating bath 6, and electroplated with alumina using an aluminum electrode 7 as the anode and auxiliary electrodes 5a and 5b and the heaters 1 as cathodes. After the completion of the electroplating, the clip 3 is pulled off from the electrolytic solution, and, before mounting the next clip to the stand, a reverse potential is applied between the auxiliary electrodes 5a, 5b and the aluminum electrode for several seconds. The alumina layer deposited on the surface of the auxiliary electrodes is peeled off into the electrolyte, and the surface is completely cleaned. COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
