(S) Form 2- (4-benzyloxybenzoyloxy) -terminal ethoxyalkanone-3 and method for producing the same

Abstract

Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new (S)-2-(4-benzyloxybenzoyloxy)-1,1,1-trifluoro-terminated ethoxyalkanone-3 easy in production, also easy in handling, and useful as an intermediate material for antiferrodielectric liquid crystal compounds. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I (m is 3-6). For example, (S)-2-(4- benzyloxybenzoyloxy)-7-ethoxy-1,1,1-trifluoroheptanone-3. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with an alkali metal hydride in an organic solvent such as diethyl ether and subsequently reacting the reaction product with 4-benzyloxybenzoyl chloride in an organic solvent such as diethyl ether.
