Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium which excels in output charateristics even when its thickness is reduced by using a magnetic supporting body for the supporting body and setting the bending rigidity of the magnetic recording medium within a specific range in the magnetic recording medium having a thickness of not more than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium having a thickness of not more than 10mum is provided with a magnetic supporting body 1, a non-magnetic layer 2, a magnetic layer 3 and as occasions demand, a back coat layer 4. The bending rigidity of the magnetic recording medium is set to 50 to 300mg. When the bending rigidity is less than 50mg. the touching of a head in the central part of a magnetic head makes failure, and when the bending rigidity exceeds 300mg, the touching of the head in the front part and the back part of the head makes failure. Therefore, when the bending rigidity is set within the range of 50 to 300mg, preferably 60 to 250-mg, a medium which excels in output characteristics can be obtained.
