Broadband helical antenna and manufacturing method thereof
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To considerably extend the band width in a simple constitution by inserting a conductive rod-shaped member to the end part of a helical antenna element and bringing this antenna element and the conductive rod-shaped mem ber close to each other with an electrically insulating thin layer between them. CONSTITUTION:A metallic terminal 4 is coupled to one end of a helical antenna 1 into which a conductor is spirally formed, and it is made electrically conductive. A metallic conductor column 2 preliminarily provided with an electrically insulating film 3 is inserted to the other end of the helical antenna element 1 and is fixed in a proper position. With respect to diametral dimensions, lengthwise dimensions, and the insertion position of the metallic conductor 2 and thickness dimensions of the insulating film 3, various elements are changed to search the condition in which the double resonance phenomenon is shown. In this case, it is preferable that lengthwise dimensions of the columnar metallic conductor 2 are in the range of L2/2 to 3L2/4 where L2 is the length of the helical antenna element 1. Though this work requires experiences, considerable skill, and much time, design specifications for reproducing of the suitable condition are determined to perform the industrial production after this condition is obtained once.
