Black ink component generating and processing method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To attain soft color reproduction without a tone jump which is natural a human sense by obtaining each black ink quantity corresponding to ink quantity of each primary color represented by 3-color separation data from a lookup table and using a minimum quantity of each ink quantity as a black ink quantity. CONSTITUTION:Lookup tables 1, 2, 3 making black ink quantity correspondent to ink quantity of each primary color represented by a 3-color separation data are prepared for each color. When a 3-color separation data is given from a color picture reader or the like, a black ink quantity corresponding to each primary color ink quantity represented by the data is obtained by retrieving the lookup tables 1, 2, 3 for each color, a minimum black ink quantity is obtained among the black ink quantities and the minimum value is used as the black ink quantity to the given data. Thus, the increase in the black quantity near the start point of production of the black color is decreased so as to cope with a human sense naturally and soft color reproduction without tone jump is realized and the black color generating processing is implemented at a high speed.
