Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To always display a relative time for each recording unit at the time of reproducing by detecting a difference time between an absolute time recorded over the whole area and a 1st relative time recorded in the leading part of the recording unit and detecting a 2nd relative time after the leading part of the recording unit in accordance with the absolute time and the difference time. CONSTITUTION:A subdata part contained in a regenerative digital data is demodulated by a digital signal processing circuit 6, and a display data consisting of start information, the absolute time and a program time, etc., is sent out to a display device 7. Then, the absolute time is recorded over the whole area, and by using a recording medium (magnetic tape) 2 recorded with the 1st relative time for each recording unit in the leading part of the recording unit, a difference time between the 1st relative time obtained by reproducing the leading part of the recording unit and the absolute time is detected, and according to the absolute time and the difference time, the 2nd relative time is detected. By this method, the relative time of the recording unit is always displayed at the recording time.
