Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the subject agent comprising a 6-glucose mono fatty acid ester having a 6-9C fatty acid residue, having excellent antibiotic, antibacterial activities against gram positive bacteria and excellent safety and taste and effectively added to foods, cosmetics, etc. CONSTITUTION:An antibiotic, antibacterial agent for gram positive bacteria, having excellent antibiotic, antibacterial activities against the gram positive bacteria, not lowering the activities even when simultaneously employed together with other components, having excellent safety and taste and capable of being widely utilized for various products, especially foods comprises a 6-8C fatty acid residue-having 6-glucose monofatty acid ester of the formula (R is 5-8C alkyl).
