Instrument for measuring concentration of total hemoglobin

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To measure the concn. of the total hemoglobin in blood with good accuracy without observation of blood and without erosion by irradiating a part to be measured with light of two kinds of wavelengths having different absorption coeffts. to hemoglobin and water and detecting the transmitted or reflected light of the respective wavelengths. CONSTITUTION:A light source 2 allows the light to transmit the part 1 to be measured and a dichroic mirror 3 reflects the light contg. the short wavelength lambda1 (the light having the absorption by Hb and HbO2 and having no absorption by water) and allows the transmission of the light of the long wavelength lambda2 (the light having no absorption by the Hb and HbO2 and having absorption by the water). An interference filter 4 allows the transmission of the light of the wavelength lambda1 and an interference filter 6 allows the transmission of the light of the wavelength lambda2. The light detected by photodetectors 5 and 7 is converted to electric signals which are subjected to Log conversion by logarithmic amplifiers 8 and 11. DC components are cut off by filters 9 and 12 and the signals are subjected to current rectifica tion in current rectifier circuits 10 and 13. The signals are passed through a multiplexer 14 and are subjected to A/D conversion in an A/D converter 15. The signals Elambda1, Elambda2 corre sponding to the wavelength lambda1 and lambda2 are calculated in an arithmetic circuit 16 and are displayed in a display section 17.
