Wideshield wiper device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent an excessive load from being added to a motor, and make a wiper arm extensible and foldable without unnecessarily enlarging by fixing the motor to a support plate so as not to be rotated by a drive spindle. CONSTITUTION: The movement of a blade support 18 between a folded position and an extended position is performed by a motor 54, and the motor 54 governs the axial movement of the blade support 18 around the axial line situated in one end of a support arm 20. Since this was conventionally performed by a motor fixed to the support arm 20 itself, and the inertia was added to the whole inertia of a structure consisting of the support arm 20, the blade support 18 and a wiper blade, a large load was added to the wiper arm. In contrast to this, since the motor 54 is fixed not to the support arm 20 but to a support plate 24, the motor 54 is not moved by the support arm 20 during the wiping operation of the support arm 20. Thus, no excessive load is added to the wiper motor 54.
