Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To read an excellent picture even when picture reading is once stopped by decreasing the moving speed of a line image sensor gradually when picture information is stored and an idle area in a memory is decreased. CONSTITUTION:When an idle capacity of a memory 102 is decreased in the subscanning control at picture read, the moving speed of a line image sensor 101a is gradually decreased. Thus, immediate stop or restart is avoided, then the deviation between the control timing of a step motor in a subscanning control section 101b and the actual moving distance of the line image sensor 101a is decreased. Thus, even when the picture reading is stopped once, an excellent picture is read.
