Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To eliminate misdetection by removing a noise from a video signal from a line scanner, and compressing the video signal at every scanning, and segmenting a bar part by comparing compressed information and the video signal, and simultaneously, investigating the number of meshes in the vertical direction of the compressed information. CONSTITUTION:A bar code is scanned, and reflected light is converged by a lens 2 so as to be inputted to the line scanner 3, and after the noise of the video signal having passed through a gate circuit 6 is removed by a noise removal circuit 7, the video signal is made to pass through a pattern compression circuit 8 in order to generate the pattern of the bar by compressing the video signal, and the number of noncoincident bits between the compressed pattern and an input video signal is counted, and if it is larger than a preset number, it results in null detection, and at the point of time, the segmentation of the bar is executed by a forced segmentation circuit 9. Further, the measurement of a pitch between the bars and the measurement of the number of the detected bars are executed by counters 11, 12, and the bar code is read based on these information.
