Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To remove unsanitary sense due to the touch of many persons's fingers on the same position and to reduce power consumption by providing the finger print image input device with an emission control means for lighting up a finger with incident light or bactericidal light only for a required period. CONSTITUTION:When a finger 2 is put on the setting surface 9 of the device, a piezo-electric element 10 detects the finger 2 and indicates the putting of the finger to a control part 12 through a signal line 13. The control part 12 turns on a light source 4 and light having bactericidal action which is projected from the light source 4 passes the incident face 7 of a prism 1 and arrives at the setting face 9 to pasteurize the face 9. Thereby, light is reflected and refracted in accordance with the ruggedness of the finger print and only the light from the recessed part passes a delivering face 8 and arrives at an image pickup element 5. When the input of the finger print image is finished and the finger 2 is separated from the face 9, the control part 12 turns off the light source 4 by a signal outputted from the element 10. A finger setting guide 3 is constituted to perforate into a part on which a finger is to be put to shield a user from light projected from the light source 4.
