Method and instrument for capsulating computer program

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To easily incorporate and use application tools in a computer-aided software development system by converting an interface description file, which prescribes a required operation in accordance with a prescribed event received from a development tool or a user interface, to a set of data structures which show the required operation. CONSTITUTION: An interface description language is used to prepare an interface description file 48 which prescribed a required operation in accordance with a prescribed event. This file 48 is compiled and is translated to generate a set of data structures which prescribe the operation. Next, the control is transferred to a user interface 44, a development tool, an application tool 42, and an event handler 62 which receives events from an operating system, and a corresponding data structure is referred to and the operation in the data structure is executed to determine a response to the event. Thus, application tools are easily incorporated in the computer-aided software development system and are used.
