Picture editing and reproducing device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To easily select a source picture at the time of reproducing by displaying an area picture representing respective source pictures by a multipicture on a monitor and selecting the desired source picture out of these area pictures. CONSTITUTION:A control means 30 records the picture data of the area pictures stored in an area picture storing means 18 together with the picture data of the source pictures to a recording medium 12 and at the time of reproducing, the picture data of the plural area pictures are read out from the recording medium 12 and multiply displayed on a display means 22 so as to retrieve the desired picture. The area picture is extracted from the source picture and the extracted area picture is displayed by the multipicture on the monitor 22. While observing the displayed area picture, an operator selects the desired source picture. Thus, at the time of reproducing, the source picture can be easily selected.
