Magnetic disk cleaner

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To surely eliminate dust biting into the plane of a magnetic disk by stopping the magnetic disk transiently when the collision of a cleaning head with the dust is detected with a sensor unit, and rotating the disk in a backward direction. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk 6 is rotated in a forward direction at con stant speed after the cleaning head 1 is loaded on the magnetic disk 6 with an actuator 2, and the cleaning head 1 is floated over at constant floating height. Next, when the collision of the cleaning head 1 with the dust 7 is detected when the cleaning head 1 is sought by stepping to the inner peripheral side of the magnetic head 6, the magnetic disk 6 is stopped transiently, then, reverse rotation is started. After that, the magnetic disk 6 is returned to a forward rotating state, and the cleaning head 1 is sought by stepping to the inner peripheral side of the magnetic disk 6 again with the actuator 2. In such a way, it is possible to easily and surely eliminate the dust biting into the plane of the magnetic disk from the plane of the magnetic disk.
