Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To detect an angle of rotation of a rotor highly precisely by detecting the contact state of the rotor with a stator by using a pressure detector and by comparing its phase with that of an amplitude detection signal of travelling waves of the stator. CONSTITUTION:An oscillating wave motor is composed of a stator 3-3 having a resonator 3-1 and an oscillator (piezoelectric element) 3-2 and a rotor 3-5 having a rotating shaft 3-9. It is equipped with a phase difference detector 3-11 and a motor driving power source 3-13, too. A pressure detector 3-6 is provided to the rotor 3-5. This pressure detector 3-6 is a detecting device in which the voltage varies according to the axial pressure and of which electrode is divided into five. The space of the two detection sections 4-2 side by side for the total five pressure detection sections 4-2 is therefore set at 72 deg. equivalent to one wavelength. Between these two sections there is an insulation section 4-1. These five oscillatory signals 3-14 are inputted into a phase difference detection section 3-11. The detection of an angle of rotation can thereby be performed with high precision without the use of a rotation angle detection mechanism.
