Liquid crystal display device
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To enable only a person who is hard of hearing and wears a polarized lens to observe a subtitle by using a liquid crystal display formed by polarized light as a display device for the subtitle of a movie. CONSTITUTION: Coded conversation information on a movie film is extracted as a conversation output through a decoding means and a microprocessor and a subtitle is formed on the liquid crystal display 10. Since a polarizing device 28 is arranged between a light source 26 and the display 10, light passing the device 28 is polarized. Thereby an audience requiring the observation of the subtitle can observe the subtitle through spectacles having a polarizing device 30. When the polarization of the device 30 is selected in the orthogonal or same direction to/as the device 28, a bright picture or a black picture can be observed. Consequently, only a person who is hard of hearing and wears spectacles can observe the subtitle.
