Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To transfer an image excellently by a transfer part by adjusting the pressure of a recording medium to a photosensitive body according to the rigidity of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The output of a piezoelectric element 17 corresponding to the rigidity and thickness of the conveyed recording medium 13 is inputted to a control circuit 20 before the recording medium 13 moves to between a guide plate 2 and the photosensitive body 1, and this control circuit 20 rotates a motor 5 to move the guide plate 2 through a gear train. By this movement, the guide plate 2 presses the traveling recording medium 13 against the photosensitive body 1 with proper pressure. Here, the recording medium 13 is charged electrostatically by a transfer device 11 to the opposite polarity from toner to transfer an image on the photosensitive body 1. Consequently, the image is transferred excellently by the transfer part 11.
