Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To quickly discover faulty parts irrespective of the skillfulness of an operator by instructing the repair of a doubtful part based on experimental or logical inference. CONSTITUTION:An inference device 1 which makes inference based on experimental knowledge lists doubtful parts of a fault by utilizing the knowledge stored in a symptomatic knowledge storing device 3 against inputted fault information. Then the device 1 selects a test for narrowing the doubtful parts from tests in a knowledge storing device 4 and performes the selected test. By repeating such operations, the device 1 selects the repairing method of the part including the doubtful part from a fault cause storing device 5 and instructs an attendant of the repair. When the diagnosis by means of the inference device 1 cannot be performed, another inference device 2 based on logic makes diagnostic operations by using the contents of an operation model storing device and logical structure storing device 11.
