Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a film having transparency and high gas barrier property by forming a reactive product layer of compound having polymerizable carbon- carbon unsaturated bond with polyester of 0.01-5mum thick on one side face of an oriented polyester film and forming a transparent thin film layer of silicon oxide of specific thickness on the one side face. CONSTITUTION:A transparent plastic film has a layer of reactive product of a compound having a polymerizable carbon-carbon unsaturated bond and polyester on one side face of an oriented polyester film. The thick of a coating layer containing the reactive product is 0.01-5mum. If the thickness of the layer is less than 0.01mum, its gas barrier property is not considerably improved due to coating irregularity and it is not preferable. If it is thicker than 5mum, its slideness is reduced so that the handling of the film becomes difficult. A transparent thin film layer of silicon oxide is formed at least one side face on the coating layer. The thickness of the transparent thin film layer is 5-500nm. If it is less than 5nm, its gas barrier is insufficient, while if it exceeds 500nm, the film tends to be curled or the transparent thin film layer itself is easily cracked or peeled.
