Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the storage efficiency by rearranging font data of each character in KANJI (chinese character) code area in the order of consecutive address and storing the result. CONSTITUTION:Font data of each character are stored while their addresses are consecutive by utilizing it that the high-order 2 bits of 2nd byte of the shift JIS code are not '0' simultaneously and an area whose 1st byte is (80)H is free in a KANJI ROM. That is, the font data of the shift JIS in the area Ar1 where the 1st byte of the character codes is (E0)H-(E7)H are rearranged in an area Ar1' where the 1st byte is (88)H-(9F)H and the high-order 2 bits of the 2nd byte are all '0'. Thus, the storage efficiency is improved and required character font data are stored in a less capacity.
