Abstract

Abstract 431,663. Elastic woven bandages. FLEMMICH, L., FLEMMICH, W., and FLEMMICH, O., (trading as FLEMMICH'S SOHNE, A.), 43, Webgasse, Vienna. July 24, 1934, Nos. 21659 and 21660. Convention dates, Nov. 7, 1933 and Feb. 23, 1934. [Class 142 (iv)] A binder or bandage especially for medical purposes, comprises a warp of rubber threads 1, Fig. 1, fast to boiling, interspersed with cotton, silk, wool, or like inelastic warp threads 2, the threads 1 and some or all of threads 2 being woven with spaced inelastic weft threads 3, and means being provided to prevent retraction of the rubber threads. As shown, said means comprises closely laid weft threads at the ends of the bandage. The rubber threads may be made by spraying rubber latex as described in Specification 214,615, [Class 70], or may be those known under the Registered Trade Marks "Lastex" or " Lactron." The rubber threads are beamed in separately under tension, and at the edges of the bandage the single thread may be replaced by a pair of weaker threads 4, are introduced from a third warp beam. A fabric of several bandage widths and of indefinite length, dividable into individual bandages, may be produced by introducing pairs of double threads 4 into the warp at intervals corresponding to the width of the bandage and providing closely woven weft portions of double the width shown at bandage-length intervals, the fabric being cut between the pairs of doubled threads and through the closely woven portions. A silk warp thread may be provided adjacent the threads 4 for strength and softness. In Fig. 5 a cotton, silk, or other inelastic crossing thread 4 is provided to hold some or all of the rubber threads, the threads 4 being all on one side or alternately on opposite sides of the fabric as shown ; such a fabric can be cut at any point. The number of weft threads in this construction can be reduced. " Lastex " and " Lactron " threads may be provided alternately, the crossing threads being applied only to the latter threads.
