Improvements in power transmission for internal combustion engines
Abstract
Abstract 371,069. Driving-gear. SZOMBATHY, M., 3, Sanettystrasse, Vienna. Jan. 30, 1931, No. 3073. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1930. [Class 7 (ii).] A swash-plate driving gear is adjustable according both to engine speed and working pressure. The axially movable Z-crank shaft 1 works within a sleeve 17 carrying pivoted masses 23 with arms 21 bearing against a collar 18 slidable on the shaft ; springs 19, 20 bear at one end on the collar 18 and at the other against the sleeve 17 and collar 7 respectively. A spindle 10 running transversely of the shaft 1 has pivoted thereon a sleeve 11 spaced from the shaft and carrying the disc 12. The hollow member 3 rotatably mounted around the sleeve 11 is connected to the piston-rods k. A link 15 connects the sleeves 11, 17. Ball-socketed links 13 restrain the movements of the member 3 and are duplicated or balanced. They may be resiliently mounted in the casing. Lubricating is effected through a pipe 24 and an opening 26 in the member 3, and also through the links 13. The transmission of variations following individual explosions may be avoided by introducing friction-brake rings between the collar 18 and the members 8, 17.
