Abstract
Abstract 213,938. Soc. des AÚroplanes H. et M. Farman. June 20, 1922, [Convention date]. Addition to 159,141, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.]. Braking.-In a four-wheel braking system, the front wheel brakes comprise the brake mechanism described in the parent Specification, consisting of a block 1 mounted on a fixed pivot 17 and freely hinged at 12 to a second block 3, the blocks being engaged with the drum by an involute cam 14, whilst the rear wheel brakes comprise the usual blocks 19, 20 mounted on fixed pivots 21, 22 and expanded by a cam 18 of ordinary form. With this arrangement, the braking action on the front wheels is greater during forward running, and that on the rear wheels is greater during backward running of the vehicle.
