Improved method and apparatus for operating a combination of condenser and boiler feed pumps
Abstract
Abstract 141,015. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. April 1, 1919, [Convention date]. Feed-water, supplying.-Consists in a method of, and means for, controlling a set of air and feed pumps. The water of condensation from a surface condenser flows into a tank e from which the wet air pump m draws. The delivery from the pump m is fed by a pump n to the boilers, or, when the feed water is more than the boilers require, the surplus delivery passes by a pipe g and float-controlled valve f to a raised tank c. When the water in the tank e fall s below a predetermined level, the float a opens a valve d to allow the water in the tank c to pass into the tank e. In a modification, a single float is used to control valves d, f, one being opened as the other is closed. Centrifugal pumps are shown, but other types of pump may be used.
