Processes and devices for unblinding a tangential filter while operating

Abstract

Abstract A device according to the invention for unblinding a tangential filter 1 comprises a first automatic valve 7, normally open, placed on the filtrate outlet, a second automatic valve 8, normally closed, placed on a purge outlet, and a closed circuit 9 which is connected to the filtrate outlet and which is equipped with a nonreturn valve 10, a pump 11, a hydropneumatic storage tank 12 and a third automatic valve 13, normally closed. At regular intervals or when the filtrate flow rate falls below a threshold, brief pressure pulses are sent countercurrentwise downstream of the filter without stopping the circulation pump 3 and the force-feeding pump 2. One application is the unblinding of the filters employed in tangential ultrafiltration or microfiltration.
