Mains voltage rectifier
Abstract
Abstract The mains rectifier has either 110 or 220V.a.c. applied to the input terminals (A1,E1) and via resistors (R1, R2) to a diode (D1-D4) bridge circuit. The output of the bridge delivers a selected d.c. output voltage (U1) to a coupled pair of charge capacitors (F1,C2). Between the input terminals is a triac (TC1) switch with its control electrode (4) coupled to a control stage (St1), also connected to the supply. With the higher supply voltage (220V) the control circuit is inactive, and the circuit acts as a two-way rectifier generating 300 V.d.c. output. When a lower supply voltage of 110C is applied the triac is fired by voltage derived pulses, and the circuit acts as a voltage doubler to generate 300 V.dc.
