2-STROKE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND COMBUSTION ENGINE IGNITION METHOD
Abstract
Abstract Two-stroke internal-combustion engine having a combustion chamber and a scavenging port, which opens into the combustion chamber. If the engine is working under low load, and consequently considerable amounts of uncombusted and only partially combusted fractions and oxygen remain in the combustion chamber, fresh air is introduced at low speed from the scavenging port into the combustion chamber, so that it does not disturb the residual gas in the combustion chamber. As a consequence of this, the oxidation of the uncombusted and partially combusted fractions continues without interruption during the expansion stroke and the compression stroke and a self-ignition of the remaining gases is induced at the end of the compression stroke. The self-ignited residual gas brings about an ignition of fuel which is injected into the combustion chamber by means of an injection device.
