Elastomer saddle fitting for pipe joint - has annular part attached tubular part former using two lips housing edge opening main pipe
Abstract
Abstract The saddle fitting connects a feeder pipe (P) to a main pipe (C), is made of supple material and uses an opening (L) cut in the wall of the main, being used for surface water drainage purposes etc. It comprises an annular part (1a) and a short length of pipe (1b) or socket, the former using two lips (2,3) to house onto the edge of the opening whilst the latter receives a spigot end of the feeder. The socket has an integral seal (5) and joins the inner perimeter of the annualr part. The fitting may be made of elastomer the socket being stiffened by a rigid outer sleeve (9) located by circumferential ribs (7,8). A stop (6) may limit penetration of the feeder pipe spitog end and the re-entrant angle may be strengthened (8). The fitting is pref. made of an ethylene-propylene elastomer.
