Wedge for blocking vehicle wheels - includes pressure sensing switch initiating warning if vehicle moves against block
Abstract
Abstract The wedge for a lorry which is unloading from the quayside is intended to prevent the vehicle being driven away whilst a ramp is still connected to its tail. The wedge is made of metal with a base and upright back forming two sides of a triangle in cross-section. The third panel comprises an inclined surface, the upper edge of which is pivoted to the frame of the wedge. The middle portion of the inclined surface is held in position by a threaded rod with nuts enabling its position to be adjusted. A coil spring normally holds it out as far as possible. When the inclined surface is pushed in by the wheel of a vehicle a switch is closed. This is connected to an alarm circuit providing a warning signal.
