Selon l'invention, ledit procédé comprend les étapes de : a. ajuster le pH de l'urine dans un domaine compris entre 6 et 8, si le pH de l'urine est en dehors de ce domaine, b. mettre en contact l'urine ayant un pH ainsi contrôlé avec un adsorbant sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant une résine adsorbante poreuse à base de polystyrène, le chitosane et la terre à diatomées, pour ainsi adsorber l'érythropoïétine sur ledit adsorbant, c. séparer ledit adsorbant ayant adsorbé l'érythropoïétine de l'urine traitée, et d. éluer l'érythropoïétine dudit adsorbant.
