Traction and braking circuit for vehicle drive - is suppled from DC source through inductor and DC controller
Abstract
Abstract The circuit has a braking resistor, a first diode in parallel with the field winding, and switches for necessary regrouping of components from traction to braking and vice-versa. During traction the motor armature operation is in parallel with the field winding and in series with a rectifier, and during braking the armature is in parallel with the braking resistor and in series with the rectifier. The rectifier (2.2) is controllable and is pref. a thyristor. A second diode (2.7) is between the quenching diode (5.3) of the d.c. controller (5) and a terminal of the resistor (3.1). In braking operation a third diode (2.6) is inserted between the inductor (L) and field winding (1.2).
