Braking device for supply trolley - has rotating cam operated by drawgear contacting wheel
Abstract
Abstract The supply trolley overcomes difficulties to small diameter wheels which prevent the use of normal type brake gear. The drawbar of the trolley is inclined to a small angle up or down and this is used to operate the brake gear. The system consists of a wheel (2) and a moving cam (13) on an axis parallel to that of the wheel. The cam can contact the wheel and is held in the "off" position by a spring (19). The cam shaft has a pinion which engages with a rack operated by the drawgear. This arrangement can be repeated on each side of the wheel (for both directions of movement) and on both sides of the vehicle.
