Consonant-vowel transition for speech synthesising - uses signal modifying functions with pseudo-period pitch curves
Abstract
Abstract For each recorded consonant, to reconstitute the consonant-vowel transition, a number of functions, relating to the amplitude variations of three waveforms, during the pitch or pseudo-period are calculated electronically, these functions being added together to provide a succession of time functions. The latter are reproduced by supplying a loud-speaker with a voltage which varies in time according to the succession of adjacent functions. The functions are pref. obtained by integration of the vocal signal over the pseudo-period with a time constant less than the period of the first waveform and greater than that of the other waveforms.
