Antiskid bituminous aggregate compsn. - contg. ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer and terpene resin

Abstract

Abstract The Parent Patent described coated aggregate compsn. for traffic surfaces in metal and flagstones, comprising 85-95 wt.% inert aggregates and 15-5 wt.% of a binder comprising 50-94 wt.% bitumen, 5-40 wt. % ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and 1-30 wt. % of a synthetic terpene resin. In the patent of addition, the compsn. is modified for use as an antiskid coating for roads and runways and comprises 2-20, pref. 4-15 wt. % of the binder and the granulometry of the aggregate is such that the coating has 10-20% voids. The coating is waterproof, weather reistant, has low heat sensitivity and has good adhesion and cohesion.
