Crane load anti-gyratory mechanism - has articulated link between upper frame and lower one engaging with load
Abstract
Abstract The mechanism prevents swinging and oscillation of the load and keeps it correctly aligned, and comprises an articulated linkage (3, 4) coupling a top part solidly secured to the chassis of the travelling crane crab etc., (1) to a lower frame (7), solidly secured to the equipment engaging the load and thus cancelling out the gyrator torque. As the lower frame is hoisted, it can come to bear against two or four stops (8). These prevent any swinging or oscillation due to inertia on starting or stopping the crab travel motion. The lower frame can be in two parts turning in relation to each other on a vertical axis in line with the crane hook. The parts are locked together by a pin or brake, so that the load can be altered manually.
