Counter unit comprising Johnson counter using register - has register feedback loop including inverter
Abstract
Abstract The register (11) which pref. has five stages, each of which can adopt the logic state 'O' or 'I' has its output (32) connected via an inverter (30) and a selector switch (S1) to the data input (22). The selector switch (S1) allows the data input (22) to be supplied from the feedback loop or from an external terminal (13). A second selector switch (S2) allows the clock pulse input (23) for the register (11) to be connected to a count input terminal (14) such that the register acts as a Johnson counter, or to a further terminal (16) to which erase pulses are supplied. With the register (11) connected as a Johnson counter the count indication is sequentially transmitted to the register output terminal (19).
