Magnetic disc recording system - uses disc surface divided into data and position tracks
Abstract
Abstract The magnetic recording surface is divided into spaced concentric data tracks, in which the information is recorded by magnetisation of the magnetic material in the direction of the track, and into data position tracks, concentric to the data tracks. The information is recorded in the position tracks by magnetisation of the magnetic material in a radial direction. The recording surface is divided such that two successive position tracks (102) are separated by a predetermined number of data tracks (101), at least two data tracks (101). Preferably the length of the position tracks (102) is small compared with the length of the data tracks (101).
