Abstract
Abstract The forward end of the seat has slides operating on rollers. In the event of a collision the seat can slide forward by a limited amount. It is prevented from doing so normally by springs fitted to the vehicle floor. The back rest has support pins located in two quadrant shaped slots. Forward movement of the seat causes the pins to move in these slots giving both forward and downward movement of the back rest and the rear of the seat itself. A variation uses two bell cranks, spindle supported, to locate the back rest and give the lowering action in a collision.
