Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 152 words
A server computer adapted to communicate with a user having a client computer via the Internet or an intranet, said server computer comprising: personal edition memory means (19) for storing data relating to users accessing said system; document memory means (23) for storing a plurality of documents; database management means (17) for requesting from said user personal information relating to him or her and storing said personal information in said personal edition memory means (19); automatic document assembly means (17) for retrieving from said document memory means (23) one of said plurality of documents; and transmission means (15,17) for transmitting the retrieved document onto the Internet or intranet for delivery to said client computer; wherein when said user logs in to said server computer, said automatic document assembly means (17) selects the document to retrieve according to the personal information relating to that user stored in said personal edition memory means (19).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 65 words
A server computer according to claim 1 further comprising advertisement memory means (21) for storing a plurality of advertisements and wherein said automatic document assembly means (17) is further adapted to select an advertisement from said advertisement memory means (21) on the basis of said personal information relating to a user and to incorporate the selected advertisement in documents to be transmitted to that user.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 59 words
A server computer according to claim 2 wherein said personal edition memory means (19) is further adapted to store a log of requests made by each user and said automatic document assembly means (17) is further adapted to select an advertisement from said advertisement memory means (21) on the basis of said log in addition to said personal information.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 65 words
A server computer according to claim 2 or 3 wherein said personal edition memory means (19) is further adapted to store a log of advertisements which have previously been transmitted to said user and said automatic document assembly means (17) is further adapted to select an advertisement from said advertisement memory means (21) on the basis of said log in addition to said personal information.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 105 words
A server computer according to claim 4 wherein said automatic document assembly means is adapted to retrieve from said advertisement memory means all advertisements deemed relevant to said user on the basis of the personal information stored for that user, to sort said retrieved advertisements into a list by date with the oldest first and according to the number of times they have been displayed to the user previously, to weight the advertisements with those at the top of the list having greater weight, and to select an advertisement at random from the list, with those of greater weight having a higher chance of selection.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 43 words
A server computer according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said personal information includes data relating to at least one of the group comprising: the user's age, the user's gender, the user's place of work or residence and the user's interests.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 59 words
A server computer according to any one of the preceding claims wherein said automatic document assembly means (17) is further adapted to construct a menu of hypertext links (Frame C) on the basis of the personal information for a user and the user's requests and to incorporate said menu in documents to be transmitted to said user's client computer.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 34 words
A server computer according to claim 7 wherein said personal information includes the address of at least one resource on the World Wide Web and said menu includes a hypertext link to said resource.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 82 words
A server computer according to claim 7 wherein said personal information includes a plurality of addresses of resources on the World Wide Web, said addresses being grouped in at least one link set, and wherein said menu includes a hypertext link to the or each link set whereby said automatic document assembly means (17) is further adapted to supplement said menu with hypertext links to the addresses of a link set, when the user selects a hypertext link to that link set.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 75 words
A server computer according to claim 9 wherein said automatic document assembly means is further adapted to include in said menu an autoload icon; and further comprising: autoload means responsive to selection of said autoload icon by said user for assembling an autoload document adapted to cause said user's client computer to access concurrently each resource addressed by a hypertext link in said menu and to transmit said autoload document to said user's client computer.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 53 words
A server computer according to claim 10 wherein said autoload document is adapted to cause the user's computer to divide the available area of its screen into a plurality of frames corresponding in number to said resources addressed in said menu and to load each resource into a respective one of said frames.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 40 words
A server according to claim 11 wherein said autoload document is further adapted to cause the user's computer to divide the available area of its screen into a further frame and to load an additional resource into said further frame.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 34 words
