Abstract
Abstract The method involves operating an interface unit (WF) for converting the signals for each link establishment. This is done so that the number of communications channels reserved in the first sub-network (ISDN), for the link to be established, is matched to the communications capacity required in the second sub-network, in asynchronous transmission mode (ATM). Only such communications capacity is released between the interface (WF) and the second sub-network to correspond to an integer multiple of the capacity of a communications channel in the first network.
