Abstract
Abstract The invention concerns a composite gel comprising an inorganic matrix containing a fibrous inorganic polymer in which an active organic compound is dispersed. The invention also concerns a device comprising the gel and a process for delivering a controlled quantity of active organic compound in an aqueous solution. The invention applies to the prevention of biological growth in aqueous solutions used domestically, agriculturally or industrially, in particular in the solutions used in photographic processing.

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim
25 words
Composite gel comprising an inorganic matrix in which an active organic compound is dispersed, characterised in that the inorganic matrix comprises a fibrous inorganic polymer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
32 words
Gel according to Claim 1, in which the inorganic matrix comprises at least 30% by weight of a fibrous inorganic polymer which is an aluminosilicate, the remaining consisting of non-fibrous inorganic particles.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
Gel according to Claim 2, in which the non-fibrous inorganic particles are chosen from amongst particles of alumina, silica, aluminosilicate or hydrotalcites.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
Gel according to Claim 1, in which the active organic compound is a product for inhibiting biological growth.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
21 words
Gel according to Claim 4, in which the active organic compound is a bactericide, a pesticide, an algicide or a fungicide.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
34 words
Gel according to Claim 4, in which the active organic compound is chosen from amongst thiazole derivatives, azole derivatives, sulfamide derivatives, organoarsenides, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, quaternary ammonium salts of benzalkonium or nitro alcohols.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
17 words
Gel according to Claim 6, in which the active organic compound is a benzisothiazolone or an isothiazolone.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
27 words
Gel according to Claim 1, in which the concentrations of active organic compound and fibrous inorganic polymer are in a molar ratio lying between 10:1 and 1:200.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
50 words
Device for delivering a controlled quantity of active organic compound in an aqueous solution consisting of means for containing the gel as defined in Claim 1 which allow the active organic compound to pass whilst retaining the inorganic matrix when the device is brought into contact with the aqueous solution.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
28 words
Device according to Claim 9, in which the means for containing the gel consist of a porous receptacle with a pore size between 1 nm and 50 µm.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
16 words
Device according to Claim 9, in which the porous receptacle is made from chemically inert cellulose.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
35 words
Device according to Claim 11, in which the means for containing the gel consist of a receptacle in the form of a dialysis tube or a closed bag made from filter paper or non-woven material.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
54 words
Process for preparing a composite gel comprising an active organic compound dispersed in a fibrous inorganic polymer, in which an ionic additive is added to an aqueous solution containing the inorganic polymer and the active organic compound, which brings about the gelation of the fibrous inorganic polymer and trapping of the active organic compound.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
60 words
Process for delivering a controlled quantity of active organic compound in an aqueous solution, in which a closed porous receptacle containing the gel according to any one of Claims 1 to 8 is introduced into an aqueous solution so that the active organic compound is delivered slowly into the aqueous solution and the inorganic matrix is retained in the receptacle.
