Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 192 words
Apparatus for three-dimensional recognition of shapes, comprising means (1) of emitting ultrasound, to emit waves in a control space (4) in which the shapes are located, means (2) of receiving ultrasound to receive in it echoes sent back by the shapes, and means of processing (21-26) echoes to determine from them the shapes to be recognised, the receiving means (2) comprising a plurality of basic receivers which have basie reception lobes (12) extending according to a pre-determined distribution in the control space (4) and the determination of the shapes to be recognised by said processing means (21-26) being made by association of the reception lobes (12) and reception times for the echoes which they receive to form pairs [lobe-echo], and by comparison of these pairs, apparatus characterised by the fact that the emission means (1) are arranged to emit pulses of specific duration and the processing means (21-26) are arranged to measure the lengths of the echoes received by the receiving means (2), calculate from them a rate of enlargement of the echoes in relation to the pulses to the pulses emitted and determine from them a three-dimensional shape to be recognised.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 20 words
Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein each receiver (2) is associated with emission means (1) in an ultrasound cell (3).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 36 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 1 and 2, wherein the processing means (21-26) are arranged to process only echoes, relating to ultrasound emitted at a given moment, which are received in a specific delay window.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the processing means (21-26) are arranged to compare the recognised shapes with pre-determined shapes and consequently to control means (9) which form an access barrier to a controlled-access zone.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
Apparatus according to claim 4, wherein means (6) are provided for validating access rights, accessible to users located in the control space (4), to control the means (9) which form a barrier, in co-operation with the processing means (21-26).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 43 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 4 and 5, wherein the receivers (2) are disposed above a control space (4) in at least one row and have reception lobes (12), the cross-section of which has a small axis substantially parallel to the row.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 45 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 4 to 6, wherein the processing means (21-26) are arranged to determine step by step a future position of a user corresponding to lobes of the receivers (2) and to validate only the receivers (2) associated with these lobes.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 21 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 4 to 7, wherein the processing means (21-26) include a library of echo types (25).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 30 words
Apparatus according to one of claims 6 to 8, wherein the processing means (21-26) are arranged to regulate the length of opening of the means (9) which form a barrier.
