Optical subscriber network for the combined transmission of subscriber signals and of video or audio broadcast signals

Abstract

Abstract The network is used for transmission of video and/or audio signals from a central distribution point (KST), with additional information transfer in both directions, effected by providing active nodes at the cable branch points (KVZ). The active nodes have multiplexers (MUX) for the signals received from the subscribers and demultiplexers (DEMUX) for the signals received from the central distribution point. Each branch point is coupled to the central distribution point via at least one optical transmission path for each transmission direction, all signals transmitted in digital TDM format via an asynchronous transmission mode.
