Recording method and apparatus for recording medium

Claim 2

The recording method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of deleting the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the recordable area before the new data are recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 3

The recording method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of deleting the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the recordable area after the new data are recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 4

The recording method as claimed in claim 3, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of, if it is judged that the new data cannot be recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1), deleting by a predetermined data amount the already-recorded data from the position of the data area on the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation is instructed to start, before the new data are recorded.

Claim 5

The recording method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of rewriting management data on the management data area by which the new data recorded through the recording operation of the new data are managed with the same number as the reproduction order as the already-recorded data which are deleted through the recording operation of the new data when the position at which the recording operation is instructed to start is the head position of the data which have been already recorded on the recording medium (1), and rewriting the management data on the management data area so that the new data are managed with a number subsequent to the number of the already-recorded data are deleted from its midway portion thereof due to the recording operation of the new data when the position at which the recording operation is instructed to start is a position in the middle of the already-recorded data.

Claim 6

A recording method for a recording medium (1) which has a data recording area on which a data recording and/or reproducing operation (3) is carried out, and a management data area on which management data for managing a recording and/or reproducing operation for the recording medium (1) are recorded, and on which address data are recorded (3), the data being discretely recorded on the data recording area while sectioned into plural blocks each of which has a predetermined data amount as a data recording unit, and data representing the read-out order of the plural blocks being recorded on the management data area, comprising the steps of: when new data are recorded on the recording medium (1) in a state where data have been already recorded on the recording medium (1) while sectioned into plural blocks and a data recordable area on which the new data can be recorded exists on the data recording area, starting the recording operation of the new data from the head position of the recordable area on the basis of the management data of the management data area; deleting the already-recorded data by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the data recordable area from a position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation of the new data is instructed to start, and rewriting the data which indicates the data read-out order on the management data area.

Claim 7

The recording method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of deleting the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the recordable area before the new data are recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 8

The recording method as claimed in claim 7, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of deleting the already-recorded data so that the deletion data amount of the already-recorded data to be deleted is larger than the new data to be recorded on the recordable area when it is judged that the new data cannot be normally recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 9

The recording method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of deleting the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the recordable area after the new data are recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 10

The recording method as claimed in claim 9, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of, if it is judged that the new data cannot be recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1), deleting by a predetermined data amount the already-recorded data from the position of the data area on the recording medium at which the recording operation is instructed to start, before the new data are recorded.

Claim 11

The recording method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said data deleting step comprises a step of rewriting management data on the management data area by which the new data recorded through the recording operation of the new data are managed with the same number as the reproduction order as the already-recorded data which are deleted through the recording operation of the new data when the position at which the recording operation is instructed to start is the head position of the data which have been already recorded on the recording medium (1), and rewriting the management data on the management data area so that the new data are managed with a number subsequent to the number of the already-recorded data are deleted from its midway portion thereof due to the recording operation of the new data when the position at which the recording operation is instructed to start is a position in the middle of the already-recorded data.

Claim 12

A recording apparatus for a recording medium (1) which has a data recording area on which a data recording and/or reproducing operation is carried out, and a management data area on which management data for managing a recording and/or reproducing operation for the recording medium are recorded, and on which address data are recorded, the data being discretely recorded on the data recording area while sectioned into plural blocks each of which has a predetermined data amount as a data recording unit, and data representing the read-out order of the plural blocks being recorded on the management data area, said apparatus comprising: recording means (3) for recording data on the recording medium (1); storing means (13) for temporarily storing the input data to be recorded on the recording medium (1); encode means (8) for performing an encode processing to convert data read out from said storing means (13) to recording data and supplying the encoded data to said recording means (3); and control means (11) for controlling the operation of said recording means (3), said storing means (13) and said encode means (8), wherein when new data are recorded on the recording medium (1) in a state where data have been already recorded on the recording medium (1) and a data recordable area on which the new data can be recorded exists on the data recording area of the recording medium (1), said control means (11) reads out the data from said storing means (13) and starts the recording operation of the new data by said recording means (3) from the head position of the recordable area on the basis of the management data of the management data area, and also controls said recording means (3) to delete the already-recorded data by the same data amount as the new data to be recorded on the data recordable area from a position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation of the new data is instructed to start.

Claim 13

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 12, wherein if said control means (11) judges that the new data cannot be recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1), said control means (11) controls said storing means (13) to delete the data from a position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation of the new data is instructed to start, before the new data are recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 14

The recording apparatus as claimed in claims 12 or 13, wherein said control means (11) controls said recording means (3) to delete the data from the position at which the recording operation of the new data is instructed to start, by the same data amount as the new data which have been already recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1).

Claim 15

The recording apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 12 to 14, wherein said apparatus further comprises memory control means (12) for controlling the write-in and/or read-out operation of said storing means (13) so that the data are read out from said storing means (13) at a read-out speed which is higher than a write-in speed of data to be recorded on the recording medium (1), said memory control means (12) controls the read-out of the data from said storing means (13) on the basis of a control signal from said control means (11).

Claim 16

The recording apparatus as claimed in any one of claims 12 to 15, wherein said control means (11) rewrites the management data on the recording medium (1) on the basis of an arrangement state of data on the recording medium (1) after the recording operation of said recording means (3) is completed.

Claim 17

A recording apparatus for a recording medium (1) which has a data recording area on which a data recording and/or reproducing operation is carried out, and a management data area on which management data for managing a recording and/or reproducing operation for the recording medium (1) are recorded, and on which address data are recorded, the data being discretely recorded on the data recording area while sectioned into plural blocks each of which has a predetermined data amount as a data recording unit, and data representing the read-out order of the plural blocks being recorded on the management data area, said apparatus comprises: recording means (3) for recording data on the recording medium; storing means (13) for temporarily storing the input data to be recorded on the recording medium (1); encode means (8) for performing an encode processing to convert data read out from said storing means (13) to recording data and supplying the encoded data to said recording means (1); and control means (11) for controlling the operation of said recording means (3), said storing means (13) and said encode means (8), wherein when new data are recorded on the recording medium (1) in a state where data have been already recorded on the recording medium (1) and a data recordable area on which the new data can be recorded exists on the data recording area of the recording medium (1), on the basis of the management data recorded on the management data of the recording medium (1), said control means (11) controls said recording means (1) to delete the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) from a position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation of the new data is instructed to start, by the data amount corresponding to a predetermined data unit read out from said storing means, and reads out the data from said storing means (13) every predetermined unit and controls said recording means (3) to record the new data from the head position of the recordable area.

Claim 18

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 17, wherein if it is judged that the new data cannot be normally recorded on the recording medium (1) by said recording means (3), before the new data are recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1), said control means (11) deletes the already-recorded data on the recording medium from the position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation is instructed to start so that the data amount of the data to be deleted is larger than that of the new data to be recorded on the recordable area.

Claim 19

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 17, wherein said control means (11) deletes data of a recording unit which has been already recorded on the recording medium (1), from the position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation is instructed to start, and reads out data from said storing means (13) every predetermined unit and controls said recording means (3) to record the new data from the head position of the recordable area.

Claim 20

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 19, wherein if it is judged that the new data cannot be normally recorded on the recording medium (1) by said recording means (3), before the new data are recorded on the recordable area of the recording medium (1), said control means (11) further deletes the already-recorded data on the recording medium (1) by the same data amount as the recording unit from the position on the data recording area of the recording medium (1) at which the recording operation is instructed to start.

Claim 21

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 19, said apparatus further comprises memory control means (12) for controlling the write-in and/or read-out operation of said storing means (13) so that the data are read out from said storing means (13) at a read-out transfer rate which is higher than a write-in transfer rate of data to be recorded on the recording medium (1), said memory control means (12) controls the read-out of the data from said storing means (13) on the basis of a control signal from said control means (11).

Claim 22

The recording apparatus as claimed in claim 21, wherein said control means (11) rewrites the management data on the recording medium (1) on the basis of an arrangement state of data on the recording medium (1) after the recording operation of said recording means (3) is completed.
