Die Gebilde können die Form von Filamenten, Spinnfasern, Filmen, Folien, Platten oder anderen Gegenständen aufweisen. Die Erfindung betrifft auch die Verwendung der Gebilde in Form von Filamenten und/oder Spinnfasern zur Herstellung von Filtertow, außerdem ein derartiges Filtertow sowie die Verwendung eines solchen Filtertows zur Herstellung eines Tabakrauchfilterelements und ein solches Tabakrauchfilterelement. Die Gebilde, das Filtertow und das Tabakrauchfilterelement gemäß der Erfindung zeigen einen verbesserten biologischen Abbau unter der Einwirkung von Umgebungseinflüssen, wobei für das Filtertow und das Tabakrauchfilterelement gilt, daß sie unter den heute üblichen Bedingungen ohne die Gefahr des mikrobiologischen Abbaus gelagert werden können.
