Abstract
Abstract In an ink-jet recording method employing ink that includes an aliphatic or an alicyclic monohydric alcohol having a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg or less at 20 to 25°C, in which ink droplets are discharged by applying thermal energy onto the ink, and the amount of ink discharged, corresponding to one pulse of energy, is 5 to 20 pl/dot. A recording unit, and ink-jet recording apparatus employing the ink are also included.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim
71 words
An ink jet recording method comprising the steps of: selecting an ink comprising an aliphatic or an alicyclic monohydric alcohol having 1 to 7 carbon atoms and a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg or less at 20 to 25°; and conducting recording by applying thermal energy to the ink and discharging the ink, wherein the amount of ink discharged, corresponding to one pulse of energy, is from 5 to 20 pl/dot.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
38 words
An ink jet recording method according to claim 1, wherein, in said selecting step, the ink contains the monohydric alcohol in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 15 wt.% with respect to the total weight of the ink.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
33 words
An ink jet recording method according to claim 1, wherein, in said selecting step, the monohydric alcohol is selected from the group consisting of butanol isomers, pentanol isomers, hexanol isomers and heptanol isomers.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
27 words
An ink jet recording method according to claim 1, wherein, in said selecting step, the ink further contains alkali-soluble resin having molecular weight of 3,000 to 20,000.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
33 words
An ink jet recording method according to claim 4, wherein the alkali-soluble resin is contained in an amount ranging from 0.3 to 5 wt.% with respect to the total weight of the ink.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
66 words
A recording unit, comprising: an ink housing section that holds an ink comprising an aliphatic or an alicyclic monohydric alcohol having 1 to 7 carbon atoms and a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg or less at 20 to 25°; and a head section for discharging said ink as ink droplets by applying thermal energy, wherein the amount of ink discharged is from 5 to 20 pl/dot.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
72 words
An ink jet recording apparatus, comprising: an ink housing section that holds an ink comprising an aliphatic or an alicyclic monohydric alcohol having 1 to 7 carbon atoms and a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg or less at 20 to 25°; and a recording unit having a head section for discharging said ink as ink droplets by applying thermal energy, wherein the amount of ink discharged is from 5 to 20 pl/dot.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
72 words
An ink jet recording apparatus, comprising: an ink housing section that holds an ink comprising an aliphatic or an alicyclic monohydric alcohol having 1 to 7 carbon atoms and a vapor pressure of 4 mmHg or less at 20 to 25°; and a recording head having a head section for discharging said ink as ink droplets by applying thermal energy, wherein the amount of ink discharged is from 5 to 20 pl/dot.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
28 words
An ink jet recording apparatus according to claim 8, further comprising an ink supply section for supplying the ink housed in said ink cartridge to said recording head.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
